Shop window on the Nationalestraat
Home to the 'Antwerp Six' designers, Antwerp has carved itself a reputation for some of the best shopping in Flanders. Bargain prices and unique shopping experiences await travellers.
Diamonds are considerably cheaper than in the UK, so a trip to Antwerp's diamond district is a must. Close by are the shopping galleries in De Keyselei but make some time to visit the Meir, Antwerp's main brand shopping street now graced with the beautiful Stadsfeestzaal shopping centre.
If you are looking for the creative heart of Antwerp's fashion scene, then head to the Nationalestraat. Individual takes on streetwear can be found on Kammenstraat whilst on Kloosterstraat the shops are a paradise for antique hunters. Don't forget a visit to quirky Huis A Boon, Antwerp's famous glove shop which stocks over 10,000 pairs.
This district has three important museums, so it's no surprise that art and culture are key words. The area around the Vlaamse and Waalse Kaai has an interesting mix of modern art galleries with exclusive design stores. On the Volkstraat you can find interesting lighting and other bits and pieces. For fashion lovers, there are two boutiques you cannot miss on the Burburestraat, Clinic and Hospital. Both stores are worth a visit, not only for the fantastic clothes and accessries, but for the concept and design as well.
