Retail Therapy

For delightful shops stroll along the Bondgenotenlaan. Nearby you'll find a wide selection of tasteful boutiques selling the latest designer gear but Leuven has its fair share of quirky little shops too. Check out Hexagoon, a shop full of drawers, nooks and crannies, all filled with sequins, beads, buttons, ribbons and more.

Markets Galore

Leuven's general market takes place every Friday morning and all day Saturday in Brusselsestraat. Its general market takes place every Friday morning in the area around the Monseigneur Ladeuzeplein and every Saturday, there is an all day antique market in the area around Mathieu de Layensplein and Mechelsestraat.

For die hard bargain hunters, head for the Maasmechelen Village, an outlet shopping centre with more than 95 boutiques offering discounts on designer fashions all year round. It's 83 km (52 miles) from Leuven and takes less than an hour to get there.
