Musee Magritte Museum
June 2009
Musee Magritte Museum
02 June 2009

This new Brussels' museum has attracted some 50,000 visitors in its first month of opening
Described as a presitigous, modern interactive new museum (Brussels' Royal Museum of Fine Arts), the celebrated 20th century surrealist painter will now have a dedicated museum where his greatest collection of work will be displayed to the world. Some 200 works, the largest collection of his paintings, plus archival material, letters written by the painter, photographs and drawings will be possible to view. To preview the museum go back to the trade home page and download the 3 minute video clip and pdf file.  More than a museum, the building will be a centre for artistic and scientific exchange and will become the leading focus for research into the life, thought and work of Rene Magritte, complete with a multimedia room and bookshop.
For dedicated Magritte fans and those studying art why not combine a visit to Magritte's house in Jette or visit one of his old haunts, such as cafe Goudblommke in papier.
Dedicated Magritte themed tours are also possible with a number of Brussels guiding companies, for more information contact trade@visitflanders.co.uk

Bruges Central
September 2010
Bruges Central
18 Sept 2010 to 30 Jan 2011

Various locations, Bruges
Five years after Corpus 2005 and eight years after Bruges 2002, when Bruges was European Capital of Culture, the city is planning a new large scale city festival: Bruges Central.
The Bruges Central city festival will position Bruges as a contemporary city of culture and will examine the relationship between Flanders and Central Europe.  Flanders has a long tradition of interaction with the countries of that region as Bruges' heritage testifies.
Bruges Central will host a new and ambitous cultural festival, offering a packed and varied programme of exhibitions, events, films, performing arts productions and concerts.  The programme is in preparation but it will feature the VAN EYCK TO DURER exhibition at the Groeninge Museum - 29 October 2010 to 30 Jan 2011 and will include a contemporary visual art trail of Luc Tuymans: A Vision of Central Europe - 22 October 2010 to 23 Jan 2011.
