"Most people don't know this, and the French don't much like it, but we have more Michelin-starred restaurants per head than France" laughs Flemish-born Johan Brouckaert. "I think it's the fact that we come from a small country that makes us so perfectionist - we feel the need to strive more in order to be noticed".
As the former Food and Beverage Manager of the world renowned Cliveden House Hotel in Berkshire, Johan is used to the highest standards of excellence, and he's very proud of his Flemish roots.
"I often recommend Flanders to my British friends when they are trying to decide where to go for a short break. Things are really buzzing here these days, and for food lovers there are so many treats to enjoy. Try the bistros you like the look of, and you're likely to feel you've stumbled upon a gem anywhere".
