The MAS museum
On the 17th of May, The MAS, Museum aan de Stroom, has opened its doors to the public for the fist time. This much awaited new museum is home to no less than 460.000 precious items representing Antwerp's new city collection.
Straddling both city and port, the formidable red sandstone structure of the museum is a major landmark on the city's horizon.
The main museum opened its doors together with a temporary exhibition entitled "Masterpieces in the MAS. Five Centuries of images in Antwerp", which showcases the evolution of visual culture from the Middle Ages to the present day.
